Introduction

We are today in the modern age of science. Science and Technology today have advanced to such an extent that they have engulfed our day-to-day activities, we cannot think of spending a few moments without their existence. Of late, Information Technology has brought a revolutionary change throughout the world. Today we can gather information of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom sitting in our House by a mere 'click' of the mouse of the computer. Every Government throughout the world has its own website containing information of its functions, activities, welfare schemes etc. Through this website, anybody can have access to those information.

To bring the Assam Legislative Assembly at par with other similar bodies of the world at large, we have prepared an website registered as assamassembly.nic.in. This website has a clear pen-picture of the history of Assam Legislative Assembly since 1937, contains clear and full information about the constitution, functioning etc. of the Assam Legislative Assembly, the name of Speakers, Secretaries, other officers, and various committees.

Much has been done, but much more is yet to be done. In the present website we have not been able to incorporate the reports of the various committees submitted since inception. We have also not been able to include the various Acts and Motions passed, Resolutions adopted by the Assam Legislative Assembly. We are however, keeping our endeavour on the move to update our website to such an extent that anybody will be able to collect information about the Assam Legislative Assembly, its activities -- past and present and day-to-day business of the House while in Session.
